Gina Streatfield B.Soc.Wk, JP(Qual), MAASW, Cert IV (Workplace Assessor & Trainer)

Gina commenced her social work career in 1993 with the Department in Cairns as a new graduate. She worked in both the youth justice and child protection fields in Cairns and the remote areas of Cape York Peninsula during this time. At the end of 1995, Gina moved into the senior caseworker position at the Cleveland Youth Detention Centre. She also had an extended acting opportunity as the Manager of Programs and Clients Services during her time at Cleveland Youth Detention Centre. In 1997, Gina left the department and traveled to the United Kingdom and Western Europe where she worked for two London boroughs as Senior Practitioner and Assistant Team Manager.

On her return to Australia in 1999, Gina worked as the inaugural team leader in the newly formed Townville Youth Justice Service. She transferred to Brisbane in 2000 due to family reasons to a team leader position at Redlands. During periods of parental leave, Gina has worked for Crisis Care and on an Initial Assessment clean-up project.

During the last five years Gina has been involved in facilitating Interviewing Children and Recording Evidence (ICARE) training and in-house leadership programs for senior Child Safety Officer’s. She has been trained in family group conferencing, coaching and mentoring, forensic interviewing of children, advanced conflict resolution, risk assessment and participated in the Frontline Management Initiative.

Gina has an excellent reputation for high quality work as well as leading high performance teams. She offers a down to earth approach that puts people at ease. With a sound child protection framework that is supported by numerous years in the field, she works collaboratively to achieve high quality outcomes.
